How can I use BrokerForce™ with WinFax Pro ?
The following two steps will link BrokerForce™ Vendor,
Customer, and Contact tables as
WinFax Pro 9.0+
phonebooks:
First
Step, Add BrokerForce™ as an ODBC data
source
BrokerForce™'s Vendors, Customers, and Contacts
tables can serve as phone books for WinFax Pro. To do so, you must first
setup your BrokerForce™ data as a system DSN in Windows.
- To create an ODBC
System DSN for your BrokerForce™ (Access) Database: Click <Start>,
<Settings>, <Control Panel>, and <ODBC Data Sources>.
- In the ODBC Data Source window, select the
<System DSN> tab at top.
- Select
MS Access Database from the list of User Data Sources. Click
<Add> and select Access as a new data source.
- For the Data Source
Name, enter "BrokerForce™." Under Database... click
<Select> and navigate to and choose your BrokerForce™ data set.
This is usually "C:\Program Files\DF BrokerForce™\Data\DfBf Data.mdb" Do
not use the BrokerForce™.mde file since is doesn't contain any data, just
links to the tables.
Second
step, open WinFax Pro Message Manager
and link BrokerForce™ tables as phone books
- Open WInFax Pro Message Manager, right-click the New Folder icon, select
<New Phonebook>, and place a dot in the "Link to an Existing phonebook
from another program" option.
- Enter a phonebook name for the new phonebook, something like "Vendors" would be
useful. Click <Next>
- Place a dot in the "Other" phonebook
type option and click <Next>. Select "Access Phonebook via
ODBC", click <Next> and click <Set Information>.
- Under
"Data Source Name", you should be able to see the BrokerForce™ data source you setup earlier as an ODBC data source. Click <Next>
and then select the Vendors table. To map the field names from BrokerForce™
to the comparable WinFax Pro name on the right, click <Automatic>,
<Next>, and <Finish>.
