How Do I Resolve Synchronization Conflicts In BrokerForce™?

Conflicts can occur when data changes are made at two or more replicas between synchronizing. If the same record in a replicated database is changed in one or more replicas, conflicts result when you synchronize a replica with the replica set.

Whenever a conflict occurs, a winning change is selected and applied in all replicas, and the losing change is recorded as a conflict at all replicas. You use the Conflict Viewer to resolve synchronization conflicts.

If prompted that the conflict is for a duplicate customer, please DO NOT attempt to resolve this.  Send an e-mail to support@brokerforce.com with the name of your agency and the word "conflicts' in the subject line.  We would be happy to pull copies of the information, resolve the conflict and send the conflicting records to you so that no information will be lost.

To resolve synchronization conflicts:

1. After you have synchronized and received the "Synchronization Successful" message, in the event of a conflict, you will have received a message stating there is/are conflicts to resolve:

Your message may not be the same as the one above as the conflict may have occurred in a table other than the “Contacts” table.

2. Click yes to view the conflicts.

3. You will then be presented with the “Conflict Viewer.”  The Conflict Viewer may display more than one table with conflicts.  In the example below the table with a conflict is the “Contacts” table.

4. In the Conflict Viewer, select a table that has conflicts from the list, and click View.  You will then be presented with a window for resolving the conflict.  Notice the (1) next to the Contacts table,  if there were more than one conflict in the same table the number of conflicts will be displayed i.e. (3) for 3 conflicts in the Contacts table etc…

5. For each conflict shown in the Conflict Viewer, choose one of the following options.

6. Click Resolve.

7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 as many times as necessary to resolve each conflict in the table.  When all conflicts are resolved you will again be presented with the Conflict Viewer window, click close to close the Contact Viewer.

8.  Once all conflicts are resolved, and the viewer is closed, it is imperative to synchronize again to thoroughly resolve all conflicts in the replica set.

*Note*   If you delete or move a replica, you can lose the record of conflicts. Before deleting or moving a replica, check it for conflicts.
